Classes

Sharon teaches a variety of one day workshop classes at the Spruill Arts Center. The class descriptions are as follows:

Get to Know Pastel and Watercolor Pencils
Perfect for beginners with little art experience or those looking for a new medium for studio or on-site sketching. The instructor takes students through a variety of exercises designed to unleash creativity with an emphasis on the specific properties of pastel and watercolor pencils. Students may work with both or either media. Supplies will be provided. Bring favorite landscape photos, and flowers from your yard (if you have them).

Drawing for the Serious Beginner
This course is for the student who always wanted to learn the fundamentals of drawing. Spend a Saturday learning how to arrange and represent items in a still life, and transform your photographs into drawings. Learn the basics of composition, shading, light and dark, perspective, and representing textures using pencil and charcoal. Teaching is individualized. Bring favorite landscapes photos and a sack lunch. Supply list available on www.spruillarts.org.

Pastel Portraits of Pets
Pastel Portraits of Pets – Turn your favorite pet photographs into real portraits. Learn to use pastels while you create one or more portraits of your pet(s). Bring at least 6 clear photographs that are 4” x 6” or larger with good lighting conditions and facial details. No prior experience required. Supplies will be provided.
